What’s with all the Faux Fur?
We started making these coats and accessories after a very cold night on open "Playa" (flat, windswept high desert) following the annual Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City, Nevada in 2003. That memory of the bitter, pre dawn frozen-to-the-bone feeling (where your core instincts wonder if you will survive the night) has inspired us to help folks get *furred up*. We know their pain, and nothing takes it away and wraps you in stylish, impermeable warmth like these Faux Fur Coats and accessories.

What is “faux fur”?
It is synthetic fiber. We do not use real animal pelts. Faux fur is a woven or knitted fabric and it comes in a variety of fibers. Acrylic, Modacrylic and Polyester are the most common. Modacrylics are the finest grade of fake fur. They all do not tolerate heat of any kind-- fire, hot air and friction (tumble dryers, even cold ones) or even hot water. The fur will be permanently altered by heat (read: ruined). It will melt into little black plastic balls or matt into cheesy fake wool if exposed to heat. So …‘Heat not friend’.

What is a “Custom” garment?
Sometimes the basic coat offered is just not enough for certain customers. (And you know who you are!) We have been serving the special order market since we first began in 2003 -- it is our specialty. We work very closely with our custom clients to make the coat or jacket of their dreams. It’s rare to get exactly what you want these days, and we are proud to say we have been delivering on that for years!

The term “Custom Made” means a garment that is made with your input. You can add, subtract or change anything from the list below (the prices are listed below as well). We collect specific, personal measurements for a perfect fit, and add your choices of custom features to the basic coat or jacket you ordered.

How are LulieVision products made?
All products are designed and made in our West Los Angeles workshop. We have a small, talented crew that creates each piece with skill and care. We love what we do here, and we are happy that what we make often becomes a prize possession for clients Read testemonials. All products are American made, nothing is outsourced.
We think of our product line as ‘Gear”, not just fashion, so we engineer in sewing techniques and details that insure long lasting wear. We incorporate reinforced seams, heavy duty sewing, hard wearing details like covered buttons and beefy zippers. We insist on the most up to date, high quality durable and washable fabrics.

The faux fur or lining I wanted to order is gone? Why?
Faux Fur and lining fabric supplies are seasonal, and designs can disappear from the market overnight and never return. On the brighter side, exciting new designs show up every season, too!
We have access to the vast resources of the LA Fabric District and buy fabric direct from the wholesalers, frequently just for your order. We keep only small amounts of yardage on hand in the shop; that is why we have a swatch page that changes frequently. We feel that having an exciting and new variety is better than buying a huge bolt of one fur and trying to sell that to you.

Our business is rooted in custom work, and we value making something special for each client. So, our apologies if your first choice of fabrics is no longer available; but we are sure you can choose something just as fantastic from the newly available stock! Please have a couple of choices selected to avoid disappointment when you order. And if you just can’t find it on our swatch page, please to request other possibilities we may not have been able to list.
NOTE: Some faux fur fabrics and specialty linings are pricey, even at our wholesale cost. We show swatches of normally priced fabrics on this site; the normal estimated fabric cost has already been added into the price of the garments; but if you are creating a custom garment, with fabrics that cost more, there will be an additional charge to cover the cost of purchasing the special fabrics.

How can I avoid *rush* shipping charges?
Just before big holidays and the Burning Man Festival in August, plan on a 30% rush charge applying to your custom or standard order. Please order well in advance (at least 2 months) of your upcoming event for best results. (Ready to wear items may be available, without the rush charge. for our inventory on hand during that time; new LulieVision products and designs are added frequently, and sometimes there are *samples* for sale.)

Can I rent a Coat?
By popular request, some items will be available for pre-rental before select events and at large festivals. Please for more details on renting a LulieVision coat!

Why does it take up to 8 weeks to get my custom order?
Each coat or accessory is made to order for the customer and a lot of love, skill and care goes into each one. Many times, during busy seasons before festivals and holidays there are several other custom order in front of yours, so yours will be slotted to start after they are complete. You may receive notice that your coat is ready sooner than that if it is not a busy season. Rush orders are available, but there are blackout dates too, usually around the larger festivals and holidays where rush orders will not be taken too close to the event. Please plan far enough in advance (2 months from your desired date) to avoid disappointment.
